The Village

A burst of colour and activity greet you as you walk the narrow roads and street corners of Alsisar. Here art adorns the streets and the dwellings of every common man. Women going about their daily work, kids engaged in play or traders doing their business – everything about this village will win you over. Marvel at the gorgeous depictions of Hindu mythology, western royal motifs and Muslim floral designs that are liberally scattered all over. Explore on your own or opt for a guided tour, but be sure to take in every bit that this wonderful village has to offer.

Around Alsisar

When you are done soaking in all the beauty this place offers, you can take a camel ride to the nearby dunes. Here desert dancers will entertain you with their melodious tunes and haunting moves. Be mesmerized by the hues of the setting sun, diffused to a fiery glow by the sand blown up by cattle on their homeward run.

For those interested in wildlife, the Tal Chhapar wildlife sanctuary is a mere two and a half hour drive from Alsisar. It may be covered as a day’s sojourn or as a stopover en route to Bikaner. Anthropologists may be interested in the Kalbelia or Joginath community of snake charmers and nomadic tribes inhabiting the neighboring villages. You may run out of time but you will never run out of things to do in this glorious place.
